Quest for Infamy will have you undertaking personal quests to learn new abilities, steal powerful artifacts, flirt with even more buxom women, solve puzzles, piss off treants to the point of being ripped in half, and use swords and sorcery to overcome the most fearsome of foes. You can rent a room at the local inn, have a drink at the pub, flirt with the buxom waitress, or even witness a public execution, but this is just the start of your journey. As luck would have it, the bridge leading out of town is out of order, so you’ve little to do but mingle with the townsfolk and see all the town has to offer. ![]() You control “Mister” William Roehm, a quick witted anti-hero who’s just escaped certain death at the hands of a romantic interest’s father, yet ended up in the small town of Volksville in the process. Quest for Infamy is a point-and-click adventure game set in the land of Lonaria. Featuring a massive world to explore, three different character classes to choose from, and all the crude humor you could ask for in a game about treasure, women, and personal glory, Quest for Infamy is a horse of a different color while still remaining the perfect love letter to the hand drawn adventures of yesteryear. Here we are in 2014, and developer Infamous Quests has taken everything fans loved about the Quest for Glory series and created an epic fantasy tale where being bad has never felt so good. If you like crass and childish humor, the narrator will be your best friend.Back in 1989, Sierra On-Line began publishing a genre-defining adventure series on home computers known as Quest for Glory, which would go on to span five titles across its 9 year history. It captured the voice acting in the late 80s perfectly. I really ended up enjoying the voice acting. However, give them a chance they don’t get better, but it adds to the charm of the game. It really is bad! The voices might just annoy you. ![]() Quest for Infamy’s voice acting is horrid. Like climbing, the more you use an attack, the better it becomes, increasing hit chance for instance. Some enemies are weak, to one of the attack types. Where each round Roehm can attack in different ways (I played as a thief to start with) so he could thrust, slice, swipe and block. This is true for the actions in battles, too.īattles in Quest for Infamy use a turn based battle system. The higher the rating, will allow Roehm to climb over different walls and scale some trees. Quest for Infamy is not just a point-and-click adventure, there is also a simple level up system and battle system.įor leveling up, it goes back to the old the more you use an action, the more it improves. Giving the player this choice leads to replayability, and a few different scenarios to play though. Each one impacting the story and how Roehm will progress. Not long into the game, Roehm will need to pick a job type between warrior, mage and thief. As he is a rogue, Roehm can sneak past people and other bad things. Movement differs from most point-and-click adventures as he can, walk, run or sneak. Roehm has the standard interactions, use, talk, fight and move. Select an action then click on the highlighted objects. In terms of gameplay, Quest for Infamy is, for the most part, simple. There are not too many games that can be daft, weird, serious, weird and keep a player invested. However, this leads him to become an antihero in the process. Of course, Roehm is interested in retrieving this jewel. When he arrives, there are several strange events happening, one being the death of a family member by a cursed jewel. This plays just nicely for Roehm and his timing at Volkville. He has almost no morals and respect for anything. With an intro like that, you know what you’re in for.Īs you can guess, Roehm is no hero. He has to flee to Volkville after narrowly escaping from one angry Baron, after he found him in bed with his daughter. You take control of the ladies’ man and rouge Roehm (who has the worst Scottish accent I have heard and I live there). Here we have a Quest for Infamy, a retro styled fantasy adventure. I know I have said this many times, but 80s and 90s point-and-click adventures were some of the best games around. ![]() Review Rush was kindly supplied with a review code.
